Audrey Moore - Irish author for children

Hi, I'm Audrey Moore

I am a first time children’s author and it’s a very exciting time. I work in marketing and publicity. I was born and raised in Kildare Town, Ireland. I live in the countryside of County Kildare with my husband, Ray, and my children, Jessica, Elinor and Jamie.

Writing a children’s book was a new experience for me but one I thoroughly enjoyed and I have learnt a lot throughout the process. I decided to write Ping and Po-Li for my girls, Jessica and Elinor. They loved seeing the book come to life from the original story, pencil sketches, full colour illustrations, to a printed book.

7 interesting facts about me

  • 1 After reading Roald Dahl’s ‘The Twits’, one particular paragraph turned me off spaghetti for years and years.

  • 2 I have never met the Illustrator or Publisher for my children’s book Ping and Po-Li. All correspondence was done through the magic of the internet.

  • 3 I really dislike swimming pools. I feel like I’m in a huge bath in my underwear with strangers!

  • 4 The idea for Ping and Po-Li came into my head one night as I was trying to sleep.

  • 5 I am allergic to kiwis and would go into anaphylactic shock if I ate one.

  • 6 I can’t wear animal print clothing at all because of my hair, I look like a cavewoman.

  • 7 My favourite colour is pastel yellow.

  • Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
